The moving performance “The Sacred Veil” (music by Eric Whitacre) is a joint effort by Bocca Chamber Choir (dir. Ive Buch Romme), musicians from the Munor Ensemble (Marina Johansson and Tobias Tellmann), and professional dancers from Kompani Haugesund (Ingebjørg Beate Jønsson and Martine Bentsen). The powerful text, co-written by Whitacre and the American poet Charles Anthony Silvestri, describes how a diagnosis of cancer is experienced – by both the afflicted person and her family – with feelings of fear, hope, despair, love, and sorrow. The Sacred Veil is a metaphor for the thin borderline between us and those we have lost. It is a thematics that all can identify with.
