The nightingale of the orchestra

The nightingale of the orchestra

Johannes Brahms nicknamed his age’s famous clarinettist, Richard Mühlfeld, “the nightingale of the orchestra”. Brahms dedicated four of his last compositions to this “nightingale”, for example, the clarinet-piano-cello trio on tonight’s programme. Tonight’s other composers, Carl Reinecke and Robert Kahn, also dedicated compositions to Mühlfeld, who is therefore the concert’s central figure. Tonight’s “nightingale” is Munor’s Artist in Residence, clarinettist Miquel Pérez Iñesta, whom we know very well, appreciate highly, and are very glad to have with us again!
